YiHeng Wang World Record 4.25

Ten-year-old speedcuber YiHeng Wang set a new world record for the Rubik's Cube average with a time of 4.25 seconds at the Deqing Small Cubes Summer 2024 competition. 

He surpassed his own previous records of 4.36 seconds and 4.48 seconds, cementing his dominance in the speedcubing community. His fastest solve in the competition was 3.96 seconds. This achievement has sparked speculation about upcoming milestones, such as a potential sub-4 average or an official sub-3 single solve.

Cube 3x3 Competition

The Cube 3x3 is an online Rubik's Cube competition where everyone is welcome to enter.

In the first round the competitors had to write articles in the following categories: A funny story about the cube, How I met the cube, My favorite puzzle, My favourite cuber, Why I started cubing.

The author of the best article, Benjamin was awarded with a $100 puzzle bundle of his choice.

In the second round they had to complete various tasks, like taking pictures, put their creativity to the test and work hard. The winner of the Big Summer Challenge was Timo, who solved the Rubik's Cube behind his back while riding a bicycle.

New Rubik's Cube World Record: Lucas Etter 4.90 Seconds

Unbelievable day in Clarksville, Maryland (USA) on 21 November. The previous 5:25 seconds record by Collin Burns was broken multiple times in one day. Keaton Ellis achieved a 5.09 result but since Lucas Etter beat this time at the same competition on the same day with the very first sub 5 result this didn't count.

Speedcubers win Romania's Got Talent

Great news for the SppedCubing community! On 12 June 2015 a group of three enthusiastic cubers won the 120.000$ grand prize of the biggest Romanian talent show.

They went on stage with a very well scripted performance and solved Rubik’s Cubes chosen by the jury blindfolded.

Ruwix updates in 2014

We've been busy upgrading our website this is the main reason we ignored this blog for so long. 

There were major upgrades for the Rubik's Cube solver:

• Responsive layout
• Optimized the amount of steps required for the solution. The average solution is now is 75 steps.
• Added 8 languages

Added new puzzle simulators to our collection. We added Skewb as it became an official WCA competition event.
The Hungarian Rings simulator also came out pretty nice and it's really fun to play with.

An other nice product that we've launched is the interactive Rubik's Cube widget which helps people save a Rubik's scramble/algorithm, then optionally embed it on a website. We use this nice widget for our tutorial about solving the Rubik's Cube with the beginner's method.

Rubix cube solver update

You don't have to know the Rubix notation to use the Rubix cube solver because from now on if you hover over a rotation button the program will automatically display a picture explaining what it means. If shows a picture over the affected layer and shows the direction too.
